Villanova’s Billy Lange to Join Sixers

The 76ers have come to an agreement with Villanova associate head coach Billy Lange, who according to various sources will serve as the team’s “assistant for player development.”

Lange, who has served admirably under Philly-favorite Jay Wright for the last two seasons, has accepted a spot on Brett Brown’s staff just days after turning down an offer to coach the Rio Grande Valley Vipers — the Houston Rockets’ D-League affiliate.

I was clearly full of it when I implied that Greg Foster would be the final piece added to the Sixers’ new staff, as the 41-year-old Lange will be joining Foster, along with Lloyd Pierce and Chad Iske, on the Sixers’ bench this season.

Recent reports have also suggested that the Sixers may be looking to add yet another assistant to mix in the upcoming days, with the reliable Adrian Wojnarowski tweeting that former Piston coach John Kuester is being seriously considered to serve as Brown’s “top assistant.”
